Aircraft Hangar for High Country Helicopters

/ About

High Country Helicopters is a family business which had been operating from two sites. They required a hangar for the helicopters plus offices and training rooms. They also needed space to expand as the business grows, ensuring the building is future-proofed.

/ The Challenge

The existing site of the hangar up the valley was subject to adverse conditions. This weather, especially the fog, often impacted their ability to operate.

During the build, the Resource Consent required full noise assessment and neighbour consent. High Country Helicopters wanted to future-proof the building so a training room and offices were also added.

/ The Solution

XL Structural's Consenting team were able to provide High Country Helicopters with exactly what was required for the resource consent and assist them with this process.

The location of the hanger of the 30m x 18m hangar was moved which meant they have averted weather issues and can fly more regularly.

The XL Structural team used a hard stand apron in front of the hangar to allow ease of movement in and out of the building, as well as opening doors to maximise the internal space.
